I visited a young person who was an elder of the church in a small town in India. His house was in a three-acre campus. As I had conversation with him, his sister came. I was startled to know that she had M.A. in English literature and had completed B.Ed. that qualifies her as a teacher. She also shared that she was waiting for a job in the government and that too for more than two years. I asked her: “With this campus, if you had started a school, you would have educated many children and given job to few others as well in last two years.”
Lord shared a parable and expressed his concern: “The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are shrewder in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.” (Luke 16:8) People of the world are shrewder than children of light. This is a sad commentary, which is true. The shrewd manager was caught for his fraud and incompetency. Immediately, he uses the existing authority to show concession to few clients so that he would not need to dig (hard labour) but be favoured by the beneficiaries. (Luke 16:3,4)
First, he was looking further into future. Vision of future is a must to make progress. The shrewd manager wanted to make sure his life was better in the future.
Second, he invested though asset was not his own. He was still in authority, before being removed from office, in between time was used to invest in lives of people, who would potentially help him when he was out of job.
However, the trained teacher lacked vision about future and did not think of investing her skills, assets to open a school. The spirit of entrepreneurship was sadly missing. There are many schools, colleges, engineering colleges, management institutions run well by illiterate people in India. Yes, children of world have vision, passion and entrepreneurship which is lacking in disciples of Lord Jesus Christ.
Do I have vision, faith, purpose and spirit of entrepreneurship?
