One rich father was disciplined and wanted his son to follow him. The priority was a life of integrity. He purchased a house in a smaller city and gave it to him. The son was not happy: “Why on earth did you buy a property in that city?” The rich father explained: “You must be a person of integrity. You cannot sell this house until your retirement. The house is a guarantee that you will not compromise in your duty. This house gives you an assurance that you can quit and live here. There are temptations to compromise. Many times, there is a fear of holding on to the truth, which will make a person lose his food security, dignity, and no place to stay. An earthly father wanted his son to be pure, and morally upright, hence provided a home as a guarantee. It is marvelous how the Heavenly Father has provided guarantees, security, and promises so that His children could lead a holy life in this corrupt world.
Promise of Add-ons: The Lord addressed His disciples and rebuked them for having a little or feeble faith. He exhorted them to have their priority right, as earthly necessities like food, drink, and clothes are just add-ons. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Eternal home: The Lord exhorted his disciples not to be troubled in their hearts. Because in the Father’s heaven, there are many mansions, and He is going to custom-prepare homes for His disciples. When it is ready, He will come again to take His children to the Eternal Home. (John 14:1-3)
Fear not: A disciple need not fear Satan, who can harass, tempt, and even destroy the body or material possessions. However, disciples should fear the Lord and obey His commandments. “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)
