Psalmist pleads to the Lord to open his eyes, that he may see. (Psalm 119:18) He was not blind and needed surgery to open his eyes.
Removal of the veil: Only when God opened the eyes of Balaam could he see the angel of the Lord standing on the road with his drawn sword. (Numbers 22:31) His eyes were blinded by covetousness; he wanted to please God, as well as please the king, and please himself by getting the wages of wickedness. (II Peter 2:15) Covetousness and the desire to please people covered his eyes.
Elijah’s servant: The Syrian army encamped around Elijah to arrest him. His servant was scared. Elijah told him that those with him are more than the Syrian army. Then he prayed that the Lord would open his eyes to see the divine provision of angels on the chariot of fire. The servant’s eyes were opened, and he was able to see. (II Kings 6:17-20)
Lift up and Look: The disciples were not able to understand or perceive that the field was ripe, white, and ready for harvest. Hence, the Lord commanded them to look with intent, perception, and prudence to discern the ripeness. (John 4:35)
Scales fall off: Paul was blinded seeing the bright light from heaven on the Damascus Road. Ananias prayed, and scales fell off his eyes, and he was able to see. (Acts 9:18)
Men like trees: The blind man who was healed saw the men like walking trees. (Mark 8:23) He needed a touch from the Lord to see and perceive properly.
Wondrous things: God enables believers to see the wondrous things in God’s Scripture. The worldly wise, prudent, and intelligent people could not understand the scripture, but God has opened the eyes of those who are like babes to receive the wondrous revelation. (Matthew 11:25) God opens up marvelous, hidden, mysterious, unknown, beautiful, great, and unexpected things to see in His Holy Bible. Only the Holy Spirit, the author of the Bible, could give such insights.
