Some people are obsessed with alternatives. Mostly, it is because of curiosity, or misunderstanding the significance of what is available, given, or present. One man narrowly escaped death as he relied on AI in his search for an alternative to salt. Being in the Intensive Care Unit for three weeks, he recovered from bromide poisoning. Being concerned with the side effects of the common salt, he consulted AI and ended up using Sodium Bromide, which almost killed him. (News18, 11 August 2025)
Astray: Going astray searching for alternatives is human nature. Sheep have the tendency to go astray; hence humanity is compared with the sheep in the Bible. (Isaiah 53:6) A shepherd has to monitor and manage every sheep so that they do not go astray and fall or be attacked by wild animals.
Too many: In mathematics, one plus one is equal to two; it is the only right answer. Nevertheless, there are millions of wrong answers. There is only one way for salvation, as the Lord Jesus Christ said He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. (John 14:6) Numerous religions, spiritual leaders, gurus, and saints could be there, but none of them is a saviour.
Narrow: People seek alternatives as they are not satisfied with what is available and legitimate. Like cows, these people think that the pasture beyond the fence is greener. The Lord Jesus Christ taught that only through the gate of the Lord, through the narrow way, is Eternal Life with God the creator, redeemer, saviour, and Lord of Lords and King of Kings. (Matthew 7:13-14) Obviously, the broad way has many highways and subways to lead people astray and ultimately to Hell, the Lake of Fire, to Second Death.
Stolen water is sweet? Sin is presented as attractive, pleasurable, and beneficial. So, simple and sinners are seduced to accept an erroneous paradigm or philosophy: Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. (Proverbs 9:17) Ultimately, it destroys a person.
Do I walk in the Only Way of Life or seek alternatives that lead to death?
