Amalekite – fleshly, carnal, and worldly nature

The characteristics of the Amalekites indicate the human traits which are worldly-wise, flesh–dominated, and carnal-minded. God commanded Saul to destroy all Amalekites, which he did not. Sadly, an Amalekite brought Saul’s life to an end, who was executed by David for murdering the Lord’s anointed. (I Samuel 15;2-3; II Samuel 1:13-16) If the carnal mind, desires of flesh, are not dealt with ruthlessly, they could destroy the faith life of a believer.
Weak: Exploiting the weak, vulnerable, and attacking them in their low moments is the work of an Amalekite. They focused on attacking the rear of Israel’s camp, where the tired, weak, vulnerable were. (Deuteronomy 25:17-18) The Bible teaches not to exploit or oppress or manipulate the poor, widows, orphans, sojourners, blind, deaf and other powerless people.
No fear of God: Amalekites do not have the fear of God. (Deuteronomy 25:17-18) Without fear of God, they neither have wisdom or capacity to eschew evil. (Job 28:28)
State of war: Because of their evilness, the Amalekites were permanent enemies of Israel. (Exodus 17:16) Those who are not born again are in enmity with God. (Romans 5:10) Haman was an Amalekite who desired to destroy Israel. (Esther 3:1)
Strategic warfare: It is not possible to defeat the Amalekites by military power alone. Victory is possible only when there is prayer and intercession. (Exodus 17:11) The Lord fasted for forty days before he began His ministry to defeat Satan and his strategies of temptations.
Judgment: God has proclaimed that the Amalekites would be completely blotted out of remembrance. (Exodus 17:14)
Joshua’s victory: The Amalekites were defeated by Joshua. (Exodus 17:13) This was perhaps the first training in warfare for Joshua.
Last: The Amalekites were once first but will become last. (Numbers 24:20) Probably, they were the first superpower in that region.
Alliance: The Amalekites ally with the enemies of the people of God in wars. (Judges 3:13) The desires of the eyes, desires of flesh and pride of life would have an alliance with Satan to ruin a person in his spiritual life. (I John 2:15-16)
Do I keep my body under discipline like Paul? (I Corinthians 9:27)
