Benefits of praise

One new believer in the Lord shared his frustration: “I am not able to praise and pray for even five minutes. Many say that they are doing it for 30 or 60 minutes.” For many Christians, praise and prayer are the most difficult tasks. A few others think that as an unimportant task. People of God should give thanks, call his name, and proclaim his deeds among people. Give God the glory. Praise does three things. (Psalm 105:1-3)
Magnifying God: Praising God means exalting God for His attributes. A magnifying glass helps to see smaller objects clearly. A believer learns the attributes of God and magnifies that attribute. As disciples walk with the Lord, they know God’s attributes in a better and deeper way. God’s great attributes are His holiness, power, glory, righteousness, and wonderful works. His great, wonderful works are creation, redemption, and salvation. There are so many other attributes that deserve praise.
Inspires the soul: Praise helps a believer to look into the past with gratitude. Great and mighty God did not compromise in His Holiness. Hence, sent His Only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross of Calvary, he was buried and rose on the third day. Reflecting on the painful, sacrificial, and willing sacrifice of the Son of God, on the cross, inspires a believer to sing loudly His glory and love in praises. The soul longs for God when people of God praise Him.
Witness to the world: Many Christians, while meeting fellow Christians, greet one another saying, “Praise the Lord.” They are glad to meet their brother or sister in the Lord, and hence praise God for this wonderful privilege. The Lord Jesus Christ is present when two or three believers meet one another. Hence, it is appropriate to praise the Lord. Several onlookers could be hearing “Praise the Lord” and wonder why and what it means. Thus, an opportunity comes to witness the true living God. Also, share with them the joy of fellowship with believers.
