Recently, there was an objection to the Bible being read or taught in schools. The Bible is a religious book and that should not be taught in schools. Sadly, people think the Holy Bible belongs only to Christians.
1) Revelation: God is an infinite being, beyond description and comprehension of the human mind. Human intelligence does not have the capacity to discover or discern God. The imagination and fantasies are inadequate to know God. If so, it becomes essential or critical for God to disclose Himself, which is termed as revelation. God has revealed Himself through three means: Nature, Word (the Bible) and Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:20; John 5:39; Hebrews 1:1-2)
2) Standards: The Bible provides us God’s standards and expectations from humans. The Ten Commandments were written by God Himself and is enough for God to judge humanity. Lord Jesus Christ gave an exposition of the Ten Commandments in the Sermon on the Mount. (Exodus 20: 2-17; Matthew 5,6,7)
3) Truth: The Bible is the absolute Truth revealed to humanity and Lord Jesus Christ is the personification of Truth. (John 17:17; 14:6)
4) Way of Salvation: In all cultures and languages, there is a definite aspiration to know God and be reconciled or reconnected with God. However, those searches, aspirations and desires did not bring any fruit. The Bible states that God has placed eternity in the hearts of humans, that could be only filled by Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) John asserts that the gospel is written for that purpose. (John 20:30-31)
5) Purpose of life: Why did God create humans? The Bible teaches that God has created humans to glorify him. (Isaiah 43:7) That means to know God, make him known and worship God.
6) The Origins: The Bible also teaches how God created heaven and the earth. The self-existing God brought into existence all seen the world through His Command. He did not need raw materials.
7) Eternity: The Eternal God created humans to live forever. The Bible reveals about the afterlife of righteousness, which is heaven and wickedness which is hell.
Do I listen to God’s words by reading the Bible?
