At recruitment, a person with even partial vision would be summarily rejected for the position of watchman. After getting the job, if a person becomes partially or completely blind, they will be dismissed from service. However, it is pathetic for watchmen who could apparently see, but are blinded by a lack of perception, a lethargic attitude, and a lack of application of mind to the job. (Isaiah 56:10-11) The Lord Jesus Christ warned that blind leaders would lead their followers into a ditch. (Matthew 15:14)
Without knowledge: God appoints His watchmen with a clear job description and the Holy Bible. If they do not read, study, meditate, and apply, they are blind without knowledge. Hence, they are unfit for their job.
Silent, cannot bark: Only those who study the Bible, wait on the Lord, are God-confident, not self-confident to speak the truth to the people in power. Without bible knowledge, they are like silent dogs that cannot bark when a thief comes. Shrewd thieves throw biscuits that dogs eat and fail to bark. These leaders are victims of the deception of riches. (Matthew 13:22)
Dreaming: The blind watchmen sleep, and they can only dream. Imaginations, speculations, and aspirations are their daydreams, not God – given vision or dreams. Sadly, dreamers can only be prosperity preachers, not teachers of truth. God pleasing watchmen travail in prayers.
Lying down: For them, hard work is lying down lazily. They have an excuse stating that lions are roaming the streets. (Proverbs 26:13) They are averse to taking up the cross and taking risks for the gospel.
Loving slumber: They love to sleep long, and do not realize spiritual poverty comes upon them like a thief and scarcity and lack of preparedness, like armed men. (Proverbs 6:10-11)
Mighty appetite: First, for position and power, for the sake of luxury. Second, popularity and hunger for mass approval. Three, prestige, the expectation to be treated like a superhero. Four, love to gain wealth through deception, unethical practices, illegitimate methods, and immoral means.
Do I fulfill my mandate, or live like a blind watchman?
