Paul was accused of advocating foreign gods in Athens. (Acts 17:18) In many countries, Christians are accused of worshipping and propagating foreign gods. That is presented as the reason for the persecution of Christians.
Pride: Most cultures and civilisations have a pride that theirs is the best in the world. They compare their strengths with the weaknesses of others and get a sense of satisfaction. For them, all other cultures or nations are considered inferior, inadequate, and dismissed in derogatory terms.
Creator: The created world has internal evidence of a creator, who is an all-knowing, all-compassing, and all-sustaining person. Creation can’t be made in piecemeals, by different deities at different times. Hence, local gods cannot be true gods; hence, rejecting a universal God who is the creator is foolishness.
Sovereign God: The creator God is also the Sovereign God who rules over all nations, people, the universe, space, sky, and heavens.
Choice: As creator and Sovereign God, He has the authority and right to choose how He reveals Himself. Humans have no right to demand that God do as they desire or prefer. First, he chose to reveal through his creation the nature. Those who study nature will know God’s attributes and power. (Romans 1:20) Those who worship nature may not arrive at the truth. Second, God has revealed Himself through the Law of Moses, the prophets, the psalms, the gospels, and the epistles. The Bible Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the Word of God. (II Timothy 3:15-17) Third, God has revealed Himself through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:18; Hebrews 1:1-2) He has the right, authority, and privilege to choose where He would incarnate and finish the work of salvation for humanity. No one could dictate terms for His gracious redemption work.
Universal: There is only one Christ, the Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ. There is only one Gospel, and salvation only through the Name of Lord Jesus Christ. The Church is universal and global.
Do I realise the Lord as the owner of the whole world and a foreigner to none?
