Direct my steps!

Whatever you feel like doing, do it. This is the most common advice for young people today. However, the Psalmist prays that His steps may be directed according to the Word of God. (Psalm 119: 132-135)
Feelings: At present, most young people are driven by emotions, and not by intellect. Instead of critical thinking, there is a lot of sentiment and feelings. The result is irrational decisions, and at times immoral decisions.
Friends: Like Rehoboam, who had his friends as counselors, divided the Nation of Israel into two kingdoms, many have friends as counselors. (I Kings 12:8) Like Jeroboam, they are not wise decisions, but stupid slippery steps.
Fate: Many religions teach fatalism. All events are preordained as a fruit of their sins or good deeds, and hence cannot be altered. So, they endure in slavery of falsehood instead of getting liberty through the truth of the Bible.
Lust and covetousness: Some people are driven by a strong desire to possess something that is not legitimate or good, or beneficial.
Fear: Instead of looking to God in faith, people are gripped by fear. Sadly, fear sends them into desperation.
Circumstances: Some people are slaves of situations and act impulsively. Esau impulsively sold his birthright for a one-time meal. (Genesis 25:30-34) What if Jacob was not cooking under those circumstances?
Parents, siblings, and spouse: Some are worshippers of their parents or brothers and sisters, or spouse, even children. Hence, they do whatever pleases them instead of pleasing God. Many relatives who are not godly could lead others astray on the wicked path.
Comfort: Those who are lazy wish to live in comfort. Hard work is not their preference. Hence, look for an easy life with minimum effort.
Digital resources: Many young people ask Google or AI tools for advice. Millions of answers pop up. They are not the right paths, most destructive delusions.
A Strong Foundation: One who listens to the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ and lives according to it is like a wise man who builds his house upon the rock. (Matthew 7:24-27)
