In the 101-second video, a female student, on the front passenger seat, is seen continuously slapping a male student and demanding that the boy remove his hand, which he used to protect himself. Four other male students were supporting the girl, as one of them was recording the video. The boy received 50-60 slaps. The reason was that the boy commented about the girl having so many boyfriends, criticising her character. (NDTV 6 September 2025) Instead of being ashamed for having loose morals, she behaved violently against the boy. The Jewish nation also was like that: “Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush.” (Jeremiah 6:15)
Sin and shame: When Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, they were afraid, ashamed, and felt guilty. (Genesis 3:7-10) Sinners, when they realise their sins, are ashamed and have a desire to repent. The Prodigal Son was ashamed of his plight, feeding pigs, and recognised his sin. Then decided to go back to his home to ask forgiveness from his father. (Luke 15:17-19) He did not consider himself worthy to be accepted as a son; a status of slave would be sufficient.
Sin and Pride: Sadly, the world witnesses the emergence of too many wicked, evil, and sinful men and women who are not ashamed; instead, they take pride in their sinfulness. They do not know how to blush. Boasting of their wicked deeds in public and on social media has become a new normal. Guilt becomes celebration, guilt becomes pride.
Protected by authorities: The city of Gibeah refused to surrender the criminals who had gang-raped and killed a woman. It ended in civil war, in which many were killed, lost their families, and became homeless. (Judges 19,20,21) Neither the governments nor the ruling leaders have a moral compass and the moral authority to implement righteousness. Hence, foolish rulers protect the wicked and harass the righteous people.
Do I fear God and live a holy and righteous life?
