Glancing at his wardrobe, the man was frustrated. How many dresses should he buy? According to seasons, occasions, and for common use. Some of his shirts were faded, some were torn, others were itchy and he had to throw them out. In a person’s life span, all dresses of men or women will wear out and be destroyed. However, the children of Israel experienced an amazing miracle. Their apparel was not worn out or torn, neither their shoes (Deuteronomy 29:5)
Do not worry: The Lord rebuked His disciples for having little or feeble faith. They were worried about their food, water, and clothing as if they did not know the Heavenly Father. (Matthew 6:25-33) God provides His children with what they need according to His divine riches. God could provide new ones or bless the old ones as He did for the Israelites.
Leather Jacket: When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they were ashamed and naked. They sewed themselves clothes from the leaves of a fig tree. (Genesis 3:7) The leaves would dry, causing discomfort and itches. The Lord was gracious to clothe them with leather jackets. (Genesis 3:21) The animal skin reminded Adam and Eve that the Messiah, the seed of the woman would come to redeem humanity.
Spiritual Garments: The most important thing is God clothes those who trust Him with the garment of salvation, the robe of righteousness, and the garment of praise. (Isaiah 61:10-11)
Improper dress: In the Parable of the Great Banquet, one person somehow entered without the Wedding Garment provided at the entrance. (Matthew 22:11-12) As a trespasser, he was thrown into darkness.
Dirty garments: Joshua the High Priest was wearing filthy garments, and he was given new garments to serve the Lord. (Zechariah 3:1-5)
Spiritually naked: The believers in the church in Laodicea did not realize their pathetic status: “For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17)
Am I clothed with the garment of salvation that will never fade or perish?
