David Dhanraj and his wife, Christel Vigila (daughters Blessy and Ancy), were serving the Lord in the city of Chennai. God used them mightily among the underprivileged, marginalised, fatherless, widows, and poor migrants from Odisha. Their service during the COVID-19 times was phenomenal. After being bedridden, Vigila went to be with the Lord, and on her first anniversary, David brought out a souvenir in Tamil, Memories that refuse to die, on 12 August 2025, which gives a lot of inspirational insights for Christian families.
Surprise visitor
Blessy brought her friend home to be with them for a day, without announcement. The girl was joyful, enjoying the loving atmosphere, hospitality, and great conversations. When she was about to leave, Vigila asked David if he knew the reason for the friend’s visit? He asked the girl, smilingly, the purpose of her visit. Blessy replied, “Dad, this girl was always sad in college. She shared that going home was like hell, as her mother and father would fight. She asked about you both, for which I said, my parents do not fight, but are strict with us. Surprised, the girl wanted to come without information to see how you were.” David writes, if the visit had been announced, we would have put on a lot of show, but the girl could see the reality as our home was filled with God’s love and presence like heaven.
Christian family
In a Christian family, all are treated with dignity, love, grace, compassion, and forgiveness. Such families would be like heaven, reflecting God’s love and peace.
Parents
In a Christian home, the Parents are loved and honoured. (Exodus 20:12) At the same time, Parents do not provoke children to anger or exasperate them. (Ephesians 6:4) That means they are not dictatorial, selfish about honour and shame, but desire the best for children, discerning God’s will, and purpose.
Obedient children
Children obey parents in the Lord. (Ephesians 6:1) Parents can guide and command children only within the parameters of the Word of God. Children are obliged to obey such parents.
How is my family life today?
