Under rocks, in the darkness, live many insects. If the rocks are rolled over, when light shines on them, they flee away. Christians, as children of light, should expose the fruitlessness of darkness. (Ephesians 5:11)
Darkness: The eyes of sinners are blinded by Satan and live in darkness. (II Corinthians 4:4) Fruitless deeds of darkness are sinful, immoral, and unholy actions. Darkened minds are filled with evil, wicked, negative, envious, bitter, and revengeful thoughts. The deeds of darkness are unfruitful, as they do not have eternal value.
Children of light: Believers are called the children of light. They live in fellowship with God, who is light; no darkness is in him, and also with the fellow-believers. (I John 1:5) Truth, goodness, kingdom priorities, and righteousness mark the life of a believer. Wherever they are present, they carry the true spiritual light in a spiritually dark world.
No fellowship: Believers should actively separate from those who indulge in deeds of darkness. They cannot have fellowship with those who live in dishonesty, impurity, selfishness, sexual sins, corruption and addictions. Light and darkness can’t co-exist as they are incompatible. (II Corinthians 6:14) There is no partnership for holy people with sin and the world.
Expose: Saints of God expose deeds of darkness. First, believers should shine as light in darkness. A candle is not covered by a jar. (Luke 8:16) Second, by living differently, a believer silently but forcefully rebukes sinners who are comfortable in the darkness. They do not curse darkness, but bring forth light. Third, believers demonstrate holy living by overcoming such wicked passions. Many people in the world give the excuse that they are overwhelmed by the evil world. But Christians model themselves as victorious overcomers and conquerors. Four, they confront or call out such sins and create awareness in the community. It is not a self-righteous judgment, but a compassionate confrontation with the intention of good. Five, they call sinners to repent from the life of darkness, receive the light of the World, and walk in light.
