Flies and Bees

There is a Russian proverb: Bees seek nectar in flowers, flies seek filth—what you seek depends on who you are. The Bible states that wickedness proceeds out of the wicked. (I Samuel 24:13) From within the heart proceeds all wicked thoughts. (Mark 7:15) Many believe that a person sins because of the environment or by compulsion of others. However, the bible states that all have sinned, and no one is righteous. (Romans 3:23)
Bees: Honey Bees, as they gather from flowers, they help in the process of pollination of the crops. God promised Israel to take them to a land flowing with milk and honey. (Exodus 3:8; 17) Indeed, Honey is a good gift or food from God. (Proverbs 16:24; 24:13) Honey is considered a material of great value, sweet, a source of strength and wisdom. (Ezekiel 27:17; Psalms 19:10; I Samuel 14:27-29) Interestingly, bees built a comb in the carcass of the lion killed by Samson. (Judges 14:9)
Flies: The third plague with which God judged the nation of Israel is Flies. (Exodus 8:20-32) If there is a garbage dump, there would be flies. The stinking smell or pungent Odor attracts the flies. In a garden, garbage may be in a corner, where flies swarm together. In contrast, bees spread out to collect honey from the sweet-smelling fragrance of flowers.
Attraction: The filthiness attracts the flies. In the same way, sinners are attracted to sin, evil, and wickedness. The sinners are unable to resist and overcome sin. Bees are attracted by the smell of flowers and the sweetness of the nectar. The disciples of the Lord are attracted to truth, righteousness, and the Word of God.
Choices: God has given us the freedom to make choices. Believers should choose to be like bees attracted by the Word of God and facilitate the spiritual process of fruitfulness. Immature and lazy disciples, like flies, will fall prey by being attracted to the filth, sin, unrighteousness, and evil of the world.
Am I like a honey bee busy collecting nectar and living a holy life?
