God, who remembers!

“God has remembered us; he will bless us.” (Psalm 115:12) Asaph pleads to God to remember the nations that have faced disgrace, as enemies had plundered their sanctuary. (Psalms 74:1-2) The whole psalm is not a song of an atheist, but a lament of a believer. Amid doubts, Asaph turns to God and provides five reasons why God should remember them. God always remembers His covenant as the rainbow is set around his throne. (Revelation 4:3)
His congregation: Israel was the covenant community. God made a covenant with the Nation on Mount Sinai, when the Law was given through Moses. (Exodus 12:1-30) Similarly, the New Testament believers have made a covenant with the Lord when they repented, forsook sins, and received the Lord Jesus Christ to become children of God. (John 1:12)
Purchased: The Nation of Israel was purchased and protected by the blood of the Passover Lamb. Each family had to sacrifice a lamb and apply the blood on the doors and lintels. The angel of death, who executed judgment on Egypt by killing all the firstborn of the Egyptians, spared the Children of Israel. Believers are cleansed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (I John 1:7)
Chosen: Among all nations, Israel would be a Treasured possession if they obey His commandments and live according to the Law of Moses. (Exodus 19:5) God has chosen His disciples before the foundation of the world. The global universal Church is the Bride of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:4; 5:21-24)
Redeemed: The descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are redeemed from the slave markets of nations. The Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed the disciples from the slavery of Sin, Satan, and the world.
Dwelt among them: Asaph sings that the Lord dwelt among them in the camps of Israel, and among the Nation established in the Promised Land. The Lord knocks at the door of humans, who welcome Him into their lives. He enters and dines with them. (Revelation 3:20) Believers are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. (I Corinthians 6:19-20)
