Some believers misunderstand the promises of God. Sadly, some are gifted with wild imagination and fantastical ideas that they overstretch the Promises of God. They wish to have private jets, luxury yachts, and limousines. Jehovah Jireh is one of the names of God, which means: God will provide. This name was revealed to Abraham when he was willing to sacrifice his son, Isaac, by placing him on the altar and raising his hand with a knife to sacrifice him. An angel of God stopped Abraham. Instead of Isaac, the Lord showed a ram that was sacrificed.
Mount Provision: Rejoicing in this provision for sacrifice, Abraham named the place Jehovah Jireh, revealing the attribute of God: God who provides. (Genesis 22:10-14) He did not name that place as Mount Testing, or Mount Agony, or Mount Obedience, or Mount Submission. Instead, he named it in reference to God, His provision, and faithfulness. The name means: Mount Provision. He prophetically looked towards the ultimate sacrifice of salvation that will happen in the future.
Abraham’s obedience: Jehovah Jireh means God who is pleased with spontaneous and implicit obedience,
Sacrificial lamb: Earlier in that narrative, Isaac asked his father,” Where was the lamb for sacrifice?” Abraham replied, “God will provide Himself the lamb.” (Genesis 22:8)
Satisfies God’s holiness: The obedience of Isaac pointed towards the Son of God, while the willingness of Abraham pointed to God the Father. The lamb sacrificed points to the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
God will provide: The most essential need is the spiritual gift of salvation. Those who believe receive it. (John 1:12) Joy, another need that is for His children always. (Philippians 4:4) Peace is another need that cannot be fulfilled by anyone or any power in the world. (John 14:27) For His children, God has promised all needs when they prioritise the Kingdom, including food, clothing, and a place to live in normal times. All needs in times of uncertainty. troubles and trials. This includes emotional, psychological, and mental needs.
Do I experience all my needs met by the Lord?
