A new Christian from a non-Christian background was excited to study the first chapter of Genesis. God created each day and said it was good. She understood that all times are good. Unlike her in the old belief system, there were auspicious times, bad times, evil times, dark times…etc However, the Christian faith life has only good times.
God is good: The Bible teaches that God is good, his steadfast love endures forever, and is a stronghold in the day of trouble. (Psalm 107:1; Nahum 1:7) God is absolutely good in His being, nature, intention, motivation, purpose, and plan. As the Holy God, there is no equal or competitor for Him. The Lord Jesus Christ is also the Good Shepherd who gives his life for the sheep. (John 10: 11)
Good plans: God, as creator, has a purpose for each human he has created. Each human is on the planet earth for a duration to fulfil their purpose. In fact, all are created to His glory. (Isaiah 43:7) God spoke through the Prophet Jeremiah about His plans for the disobedient Israelites who were slaves or captives in Babylon: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) God has good and great plans for those who trust in Him, and surrender all to do His will. God’s will is good, perfect, and pleasing. (Romans 12:2)
All for good: For all those who love Him, all things would work together so that it yields good results. (Romans 8:28) The process of refining gold is painful, but the end result is that faith comes out like gold. (23:10) Wicked brothers could sell Joseph to be a slave, but God turned it to make a pathway to become the Prime Minister of Egypt. God uses the wickedness of evil people to bestow good upon those who love Him. Goodness and mercy follow those who have the Lord as their shepherd. (Psalm 23:1, 6)
Do I praise and worship the gracious Lord who does good all the time?
