Hands of God

David prays: “Do not forsake the works of your hands.” (Psalm 138:8) His disciples are the work of His hands. Paul also writes that believers are God’s handiwork or workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10) God is Spirit, and the Bible uses the language and vocabulary and the metaphor that humans could understand. (John 4:24) Hence, the term hands is used to describe the deeds and mighty works of God.
Creating hands: God created Adam from the dust, shaped him, and breathed life into his nostrils. (Genesis 2:7) Under his purview, every child is conceived, develops in the womb, and comes into this world. (Psalm 139: 13-16) God’s creative skills in designing, defining, and creating humans are beyond description and incomprehensible to finite human minds.
Mighty hands: God brought the Children of Israel, who were slaves in Egypt, with a mighty hand, demonstrating his power with signs and wonders. (Deuteronomy 26:8; Exodus 6:6; Jeremiah 32:17) His continuous protection and guidance in the history of Israel is amazing.
Right hand: God’s right hand created the whole universe, both seen and unseen. (Isaiah 48:13) God will hit the enemies of God with his left hand and protect his children with his right hand. (Psalm 138:7-8)
Nail-pierced hands: The nails were pierced in His hands, as He was crucified for the sins of humanity, taking upon Himself the sentence of death, was buried, and rose again. He appeared to his disciples, hiding in a room with a strong, closed door, while Thomas was not present. The Lord appeared again to the disciples, when Thomas was present, to come and touch his nail-pierced hands to dispel his doubts. (John 20:27)
Glorious hands: God’s hands are glorious in power and might. (Exodus 15:6)
Smart hands: If a smartphone with a data connection holds several profiles of contacts, God’s smart palm can hold all the profiles of humans since Adam until the end of the earth. A mother could forget her child, but the Lord will never forget his children. (Isaiah 49:15-16)
Do I cherish and celebrate being engraved in His palms and protected by His Right Hand?
