Christians are called to be with Him, serve Him, and serve for Him. All disciples are servants of the gospel, the Holy Spirit, the Church Body of Christ, and those who are Lost. They are expected to have and exhibit certain qualities, of which three are prominent. In other words, HIS servants mean H-Humility, I-Integrity, and S-Simplicity. All disciples ought to be radical servants of the Lord who turn the world upside down and bring irreversible changes in society.
Humility: Radical disciples are humble and demonstrate this in their attitude, relationships, words, and behaviour. God is against the proud, certainly, pride is the cause of the fall. God’s grace is manifested through the humble. While many hermits of various religions consider the world as an abomination, the Son of God exhibited humility to become human and indwelt among them. (John 1:14) The Lord humbly asked Peter, James, and John to be with him during his agonizing prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. As the Son of God, he need not make such a request to fragile humans.
Integrity: David is commended for leading the people like a shepherd with integrity of heart. (Psalms 78:72) Integrity is the opposite of hypocrisy. Saul was rejected as the king, but he wanted Samuel to stand with him so that the people would not know this truth and continue to respect and treat him as a king. When Nathan confronted David for his adultery, he confessed his sin publicly and wrote a psalm. (Psalms 51)
Simplicity: The Lord Jesus Christ, though Son of God chose to lead a simple lifestyle with his disciples. He did not have a place to lie down and sleep. Being tired, he slept on a boat. When hungry he sought food from a tree, which was cursed for being unproductive.
Servants of the Cross: All disciples are the servants of the Cross. We are called to bear the cross and preach the totality of the gospel, that Christ was crucified on the Cross of Calvary, buried, and rose again.
Am I His Servant living for His Kingdom and Glory?
