As gravity pulls all things towards the earth, sin pulls people towards itself. Hence, it is normal or common for people to live in sin, without realizing it, as not all humans are conscious about gravity. David prays that the Lord help him so that his heart is not inclined towards evil and keep him away from such mischievous persons. (Psalm 141:3-4)
Guard mouth: David desires to guard his mouth. Lips are the doors of the mouth designed by the creator, from where words come forth. God may guard the door of the mouth so that edifying, God-honoring, optimistic, faithful, hopeful words may come. Instead of negative, demeaning, and harmful words. There should be no complaining, murmuring, bitterness, or expressions of ingratitude.
Delicacies: David said he will avoid the wicked who make delicacies as their bait. In most of the world, hungry people are lured to do illegal things by offering them food. For those who have food, delicacies are offered as aspirational food. With that could be alcoholic drinks and even drugs, too. Yes, they are dangerous delicacies for spiritual health, opening a gateway to hell.
Evil Company: A Blessed person does not sit among the scoffers, scorners, or mockers who do not fear God. (Psalm 1:1-3) Because they have a blasphemous attitude, they mock God, His Word, and His servants. Paul warns against bad companions who could mislead and spoil the character of a person. (I Corinthians 15:33) With such company, the Word of God is forgotten, and false courage is instilled to do wicked deeds. Wicked people, who could have status in society, inspire simple people to get involved in illegal activities.
Busy with wicked deeds: David mentions that they are not lazy, but busy. They make wickedness their lifestyle, pride their necklace, violence their garment, evil their vision, and diligently pursue such illegitimate goals. (Psalm 73:6) Like David, all believers should keep away from those who are busy with their wicked deeds. Those who do evil can continue to do so; the Lord returns to reward them. (Revelation 22:11-12)
