There is a lot of debate about the indigenous people as the original inhabitants of the land, and those who migrated or occupied or encroached should return the inheritance to them, even after several centuries. North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and other parts of the world. Christians should understand these from the light of the Scripture, not from the perspective of anthropologists, sociologists, archaeologists, and politicians.
Sovereign God: The Bible teaches that God is the sovereign ruler. The earth and its fullness belong to God. (Psalm 24:1) It is his prerogative to give any portion of land to anyone for a specific time. God could replace a population for their wickedness with another group of people.
Promised Land: God promised to Abraham to give his descendants the land where several indigenous people lived. “On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”” (Genesis 15:18-21)
Wickedness of people: However, God did not give the land immediately, but would give it after four hundred years. The Lord set the wait period of four hundred years to allow the wickedness of the indigenous people to come to full measure, ripe for His judgment. (Genesis 15:16) God is not hasty, but long-suffering, giving enough opportunities for people to repent.
Land will vomit: God warned His chosen people regarding the Promised Land. If they get involved in wickedness, the land will reject or expel the inhabitants. (Leviticus 18:28) The inhabitants of the Northern nation of Israel were deported in 722/721 BC, for following the wickedness of the original inhabitants of the Promised Land, and are known as the missing tribes of Israel. The Nation of Judah also had to go into captivity to Babylon for seventy years, after two waves of exiles in 597 and 586 BC.
Do I understand God is the righteous and sovereign ruler of the world, including history?
