Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is defined as a score that provides assessment of human intelligence. This was first done by the Psychologist William Stern, Germany. It is understood that two-third of the population have IQ 85; others 115. Only 2.5 percent have more than 130 who could excel in academics or science. Some are mentally retarded and around 2.5 percent have below 70. What were the IQ scores of Adam and Eve?
It is believed that humans use only 10 percent of their brain capacity. If the average human IQ is 100, then Adam IQ could have been 1000 or even 1500. When Adam and Eve sinned, it affected all aspects of life. Spiritually, they lost rapport with God; emotionally they were afraid, ashamed, and guilty; physically decaying toward death; relationally, they had ego clash; economically, they lost their home; the earth was cursed and intellectually they lost their IQ capacity.
Adam had an astonishing intellectual capacity to name all the animals and birds. (Genesis 2:20) Richard Black, environment correspondent of BBC states there would be 8.7 million species in the world. That means Adam could identify, classify, describe and name so many species. Interestingly, he had a good memory to remember all of them. There were neither photographs nor notes to be written on a paper or digital device.
Satan has blinded humans. (II Corinthians 4:4) Hence, humans with limited intellectual capacity cannot be wise stewards of themselves or the earth. Humans could make progress only by two means: collaborative effort and accumulated effort. Ten people working together may get intelligence like that of Adam. Scientific progress and technological breakthrough are through accumulated knowledge. In the building of the Tower of Babel, there was a collaborative effort that could create architectural wonders. (Genesis 11)
Solomon was gifted with a higher IQ that he wrote 3000 proverbs, 1005 songs, had knowledge about trees, creepers, beasts, birds, reptiles, and fish. (I Kings 4:32,33) Yet he failed as IQ alone is not enough for the journey of faith; need is Spiritual Quotient.
Do I realise that Knowing the Lord is spiritual wisdom that enhances my IQ?
