The principal of a government high school on the outskirts of Hyderabad has been accused of asking senior students to assault some juniors to “teach a lesson” for allegedly deflating bicycle tubes of the wheels, leaving one student seriously injured. Students of the tenth grade thrashed ten boys of the seventh grade, and some were admitted to the hospital. (The Indian Express, 23 December 2025) Paul writes that the son of lawlessness or prediction would be revealed before he comes, and the mystery or principle of lawlessness is already at work. (II Thessalonians 2:3)
Failed institution: A school is an institution, important in any society that shapes the knowledge, character, attitude, behaviour, and life of students. These institutions shape the next generation. Instead of being an institution of discipline, it becomes a place of anarchy and chaos. The status of today’s institution is an indicator of tomorrow’s society.
Failed leadership: The Principal, who should teach and train students and model values, behaves like a boss of goons. The dignity of the leadership position as principal is not evident in his behaviour. Instead of finding the reason for the damage of bicycles or fixing CCTVs to find the culprits, he assumes that a group of students are the mischief mongers. Even if he finds that they were at fault, he should have punished them or called the police. Like a street thug, he orders instant justice, that too, instigating senior students to thrash junior students with sticks and rods.
Failed students: Since the senior students were in large numbers and physically stronger than their juniors, they mercilessly beat up the hapless boys. Confused students obeyed their principal; in fact, they should have refused to do that. Those senior students were not taught to live by principles but to use brute power to achieve their goals. In history, many student leaders emerged to fight for justice and establish righteousness. Sadly, only goons were produced.
Lawlessness: Sadly, the world is becoming a place of lawlessness, as daily acts of the majority of people indicate the mystery of lawlessness is at work.
Do I resist lawlessness and lead a righteous life?
