In a bizarre incident, a 35-year-old man in Chhattisgarh died of suffocation after he reportedly swallowed a live chick, which the villagers suspected to be an act driven by occult practices to fulfill his wish to become a father. The surgeon, who conducted the post-mortem, said that a chick 20 cm in length, was stuck and obstructed both the airway and the food passage, causing asphyxiation. (India Today, 17 December 2024)
Natural desire:
There is a natural desire for all couples to have a child, and proudly become a mother and a father. However, all couples do not get a child quickly after their marriage. Abraham had to wait twenty-five years for a son Isaac through Sarah. (Genesis 21:5) Isaac prayed for his wife as she was childless. (Genesis 25:21) Neither of them swallowed a live chick to have a child.
Sorcerers:
Sorcery is common in almost all cultures. It was practiced in ancient Egypt and Babylon. (Exodus 7:11; Isaiah 19:3; Jeremiah 27:9; Daniel 2:2) Sorcery is condemned because it attempts to bypass God’s power and wisdom and give glory to Satan. The Bible warns: “Anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
Superstition:
When there is no true knowledge of God, superstition and false beliefs in false religion, gods, and godmen become the norm.
Blame women:
Many times, the women are blamed, and the man may take another wife. That is a sin against God and the wife.
Gift of God:
God gives children as gifts to a couple. (Psalms 127:3) When they face with problem of not having a child, first they should approach God as Hannah did. Second, they should take the help of doctors who could suggest treatments like changing lifestyles, diets, treatment for deficiency of hormones…etc. Third, godly couples can pray and choose to adopt a child, as Mordecai adopted Esther.
Do I follow Godly ways or am distracted by foolish options?
