Frederik Pferdt spent 12 years at Google, serving as its inaugural Chief Innovation Evangelist in California. He has written a book: ‘What’s Next Is Now: How to Live Future Ready’. He provides three key lessons to lead a meaningful life, in other words, to be ready for the future. Interestingly, the Bible teaches the disciples to be future-ready, and his three lessons are closely related to that.
Embrace ‘Yes’ mentality: He writes that most time people think negatively, with a ‘No, but’ attitude. They have to change it as ‘Yes, and’ attitude. The disciples always operate with an eternal perspective. In the Lord Jesus Christ, all Promises of God are ‘Yes and Amen’. (I Corinthians 1:20) Christian hope is on the Rock of Salvation, the Saviour who defeated death and rose from the dead.
Envision yourself: The author wants a person to envision his/her own future. Each person should see the future of him/her and make the right choices to reach the goal. Bible teaches, that God has a plan for each person. Joseph had a dream from God, and God brought it to reality. God called Abraham and Sarah were barren but promised to be Father of Nations. (Genesis 12:1-2) God called Simon Peter and said you are like grass, you will become like a rock. (John 1:42) God gives the vision and leads them towards that. Knowing God’s plan in life gives meaning to life.
Everyday meditation: The author states that meditation is going within yourself, which will make a person receptive to new ideas. The Bible teaches meditation makes a person Blessed, fruitful like a tree planted beside the streams, and successful. (Psalms 1:1-3) Christian spirituality engages the mind. It is not emptying the mind, but renewing the mind, with the Word of God.
Eveready Christians: Those who have repented and forsaken their sins, received the Lord Jesus Christ as the savior, are born again. They always anticipate the Second Coming of the Lord, which is the Blessed Hope.
Am I an ever-ready and future-ready Christian?
