Warning signs are ignored or neglected. For some warnings are a joy killer. One who puts the sign does not want people to be happy, which includes God. Some reason: “It does not apply to me.” Some think that are exaggerated signs, disconnected from reality. Overconfident people expect to brush through such calamities. God’s warning is evident on every page of the Bible. Hence, many dislike the Bible.
Forbidden Fruit: Adam and Eve were instructed against eating the Forbidden Fruit. Seduced by Satan, they ate that joyfully, to bring a curse upon themselves, on the whole of humanity and the world. (Genesis 3)
Noah ignored: The Preacher of Righteousness, Noah was ignored. His warnings and preaching were boycotted by all people. Only he and his family were saved from the global flood. (II Peter 2:5)
Selfish ways: “You shall not do according to all that we are doing here today, everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes.” (Deuteronomy 12:8) Though warned by God through Moses, Israel did not learn their lesson. They did not study the Law of Moses, it was not taught during the Period of Judges. (Judges 17:6; 21:25)
Demand a king: Like other nations around, Israel will ask for a king. God said he will give a king and some of the Best practices are given for a king. (Deuteronomy 17: 14-20) As warned, the Nation of Israel demanded a king, which hurt Samuel. God comforted Samuel stating the Nation had rejected Him, God the King, not just the prophet. (I Samuel 8:4-22) God gave the king in his anger and removed him in his wrath (punishment). (Hosea 13:11)
History as a warning: Paul writes that what has been recorded in the Bible as history of Israel, is a warning to believers. God was not pleased with Israel who murmured, tested God, lacked faith, followed idols, and sexual immorality. (I Corinthians 5:5-11)
The patience of God: God is not slack regarding His promise of His coming but provides warning and ample time for each one to repent. (II Peter 3:9)
Do I listen to the warning of God?
