Seek His Face!

Generally, there is a huge crowd on New Year’s morning in front of the homes of actors in Bollywood or Kollywood. They wish to get a glimpse of their idol. For they believe, that seeing the face of their favorite deity on the first day makes the whole year blessed. Sadly, some actors do not appear at all, while others just wave hands or smile, and disappear. They cannot bless or give any promise. After all, they are also fragile human beings like any other humans.
What to seek: When the Bible gives a call to seek the Lord it means at least three things. First, seek the character or attributes of God. To know Him is eternal life. (John 17:3) There are numerous people who ‘know about him,’ but do not know him. Second, seek the truth. Lord Jesus Christ is the truth, the Word of God is the truth, and the church is the pillar of truth. Third, seek His presence. Moses pleaded with God to be with them as they went forward to possess the Promised Land. (Exodus 33:14-16) Fourth, it also means seeking the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 6:33)
One thing: King David had only passion or desire, to seek the face of the Lord in His temple. He wanted to gaze at the beauty of the Lord. (Psalms 27:4) Paul challenges believers to fathom the depth, height, width, and length, of the love of the Lord. (Ephesians 3:20)
God’s smile: God commanded Aaron and his descendants to pronounce blessings upon the People of Israel. It includes the Face of the Lord shining or smiling upon His people. (Numbers 6:25) It means to express God’s favor, pleasure, and love towards His people.
Privilege: Seeking God’s face is a privilege bestowed upon His people. Especially, in times of calamities, distress, chaos, disasters, destruction, and wars, people called and known by His name are commanded to seek His face. When people of God seek His face, the Lord brings healing and blessing to the land or nation. (II Chronicles 7:14)
Do I first seek His smiling face?
