Sign for good

Is it right to ask for a sign to believe? Gideon asked for a sign twice. (Judges 6:33-40) Thomas wanted evidence to believe in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 20:25) David also prayed for a sign of favour. (Psalm 86:11) David did not demand a whole answer, but with humility, as a human asked for a sign. There are occasions when the good Lord allows His people to request a sign. It is bad to demand a sign, and stating that “I will not believe in you” is wrong and foolish. Here are some signs, which need not be dramatic, are of good that David received.
Answered prayer: David requested God to bow down and hear his prayers, as God was in heaven and he was on earth. (Psalm 86:1)
Preserved: God preserved David from all troubles. More so, God preserved him from sin and evil so that he did not imitate his enemies. So, he was holy, which is a wonderful sign. (Psalm 86:2)
Surrendered: David could rejoice because the Lord lifted his soul. Yes, surrender paves the way for the Lord to lift a person. (Psalm 86:4) God would not help a person who believes in self-help as the best help.
Ready to forgive: Most people are reluctant to forgive. Some are willing to forgive, only when that person repents and asks for forgiveness. Human forgiveness is conditional. However, God is ready to forgive as He knows the fragility of humans. (Psalm 86:5)
Confidence: David had great confidence that God would answer his prayers. (Psalm 86:14) Such confidence is a good sign of God’s favour and a sign of growth towards maturity.
Knowledge: It is wonderful to know the greatness of God and declare His goodness to the world. (Psalm 86:10) Knowing God by experience during tough times is a favour from God.
Enemies: When proud and violent men rise against David as enemies, it is a sign for good. Because God would vindicate David and reveal his righteousness. (Psalm 86:14)
Do I perceive God’s goodness and favour in my life?
