The saints of God are excellent, according to King David. (Psalms 16:3) As long as the saints are in the world, they will be imperfect, inadequate, and sometimes immature. However, they are excellent. Paul writes to the church in Corinth. Perhaps he may find some kind of sins among the saints. (II Corinthians 12:20) These sins could damage the fellowship, bring divisions, and lose the vision.
Quarreling: Quarreling can even lead to violence. Paul warns not to quarrel and devour one another, that both may not be consumed. (Galatians 5:15) It could be for petty reasons, but when ego pops up the head, it can take a dangerous direction of destruction.
Jealousy: When there is unhealthy comparison and competition, there is jealousy. Saul, the king, compared himself with the teenager David, and became jealous of his popularity and the war victory song people sang. (I Samuel 18:7) A spontaneous rejoicing, a new song and dance, hurt Saul’s ego. He became a lifelong victim of this, and he pursued David to kill him, which was described as an army searching for a single flea. (I Samuel 26:20)
Anger: People get angry when they think they are not in control of others and the situation. Instead of serving in the fellowship, they try to dominate and dictate. When others do not follow their instructions, they get angry.
Hostility: The hostility between races, cultures, languages, nations, classes, and castes exists in all parts of the world. Nevertheless, God has called His people to be one Body and one Family. A good example is the leadership team in the Church of Antioch, where five leaders were from three known continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe. (Acts 13:1)
Slander: It is false news or rumor, which is character assassination, that equals murder.
Gossip: A person who gossips even separates close friends. (Proverbs 16:28)
Conceit: This is the opposite of humility. God requires three things: Being just, showing mercy, and walking humbly. (Micah 6:8)
Disorder: The indiscipline of individuals leads to disorder in the church.
Is my fellowship excellent with the saints of God?
