The Spiritual journey of the Samaritan woman

The Lord Jesus Christ was tired and weary. He sat beside the well. (John 4:6)
1) A strange man:
The Samaritan Woman must have been surprised to see a man sitting beside the well, in odd hours of the day. Very rarely do Jews cross that way, and rarely would a Jew sit there, as they would rush off as quickly as possible from the Samaritan region.
2) A Jewish man:
When the Lord asked for water to drink, the Samaritan Woman recognized him as a Jewish man, who was not supposed to receive water from Samaritans. (John 4: 9) By the words He spoke, despite a tired face, she was able to recognise Him as a Jew.
3) A Jewish Teacher Rabbi:
The Lord taught her about the Living water, which will quench her ultimate thirst, and she need not be thirsty again. He explained: First, if you know the gift of God, which she did not know. Second, know who is speaking to you: the Messiah, the Son of God, whom she was expecting to come. Third, you would have asked for Living Water, and he would have given you. By asking in faith, she could easily get it. (John 4:10-12)
4) A Prophet:
It is not enough to be just excited and curious about the Living Water. She has to turn away from her sinful lifestyle. Hence, the Lord told her that she had five husbands, and now, having a live-in relationship with another, she was shocked. She perceived the Lord as a Prophet. (John 4:19)
5) The Messiah:
The Samaritan woman, trying to impress the Lord that she was a religious person, spoke about what she learnt as worship. There were sacred places of worship, which were different for Samaritans from those of the Jews. Then the Lord taught her that God should be worshipped in truth and in spirit. Then, she understood the teaching was as if from the Messiah. The Lord revealed Himself as the Messiah. (John 4: 24-26)
