In his farewell speech, the Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, said: “Truth deficit in legal profession bothers me.” (13 May, livelaw.in) When the Absolute Truth is rejected, there could only be truth deprivation and truth deficit. When people talk about ‘my’ truth and ‘your’ truth, there are contradictions. Even the opposite opinion also has equal value. This is absurd and a foolish proposition.
Sin entered: Adam and Eve sinned, disobeying God, and eating the forbidden fruit. Before eating, there was a conversation between Satan, through the medium of the serpent, with the first couple. The implication of the conversation was: Is God true? Can His Words be regarded as true? Is there an alternate truth? The couple decided that there was an alternative truth that gives them knowledge and status, that of the god. (Genesis 3:1-7)
Blinded: The Truth is absolute, and there is no deficit. Only sinful humanity could not comprehend the Truth. Satan promised to open their eyes to Adam and Eve; in fact, shut their eyes. Satan has blinded the eyes so that sinful humans cannot see or comprehend the truth. (II Corinthians 4:4) Sinful humans are so blind that they cannot see light. The Lord Jesus Christ came as light, grace, and truth into this world, but they could not perceive light. Hence, John the Baptist was sent to declare as a witness of the light. (John 1:7-8)
Open the eyes: Apostles like Paul and other gospel preachers are mandated to proclaim the truth and open the eyes of the blinded humanity. (Acts 26:16-18)
Truth revealed: God is gracious to unveil the Truth. He sent His Son Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, into the world. “For this purpose, I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” (John 18:37). Without knowing the Ultimate, Absolute, and Perfect Truth, there would always be truth-deficient everywhere in the world.
Do I know the Absolute Truth, Lord Jesus Christ?
