An employee wrote her resignation letter on toilet paper. She wrote: “I felt like toilet paper, used when needed, discarded without a second thought. I quit.” (The Economic Times, 16 April 2025) When someone takes advantage, or uses, but does not compensate or provide recognition, it irritates and frustrates.
God given dignity: When a person’s service or contribution is not recognized or rewarded, he considers himself as not valued. For most people, an individual’s dignity depends on others, like the boss’s appreciation or an award. But the Biblical truth is different. First, Human dignity is intrinsic, as God has created humans in His image. (Genesis 1:27) No human can grant such dignity. Second, God loved humans, hence, He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into the world to die for humanity. (John 3:16) God gave dignity and loved all humans. Third, God has granted a spiritual right to all humans. Those who repent of their sins, believe in the Lord, and receive him become children of the living God. (John 1:12)
Instruments of unrighteousness: Interestingly, all humans are being used either by God or Satan. There is no neutral ground. Those who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ unknowingly become instruments of unrighteousness. (Romans 6:13) Since all have sinned, they are slaves to sin and Satan. (Romans 3:23) Hence, Satan uses all humans to do unrighteous acts or sinful acts. Even if they try to do some righteous deeds, it is like menstrual cloth in the eyes of God. (Isaiah 64:6) Hence, in the world, most people experience the tyranny of being used for the selfish purposes of others, or the profit of others, or being oppressed and deprived of their rights.
Instruments of righteousness: In contrast, God uses his disciples for noble purposes. Helping people to know the truth, receive forgiveness of sins, become righteous, experience eternal life, and live with the hope of heaven. His disciples bring God’s righteousness in all spheres of life.
Am I like toilet paper used by Satan, or a holy instrument in His hands?
