Wedding and Wealth

One of the richest men spent 5000 crore Indian rupees (600 million USD) for the marriage of his son. When nearly 30 percent of Indians go to sleep on an empty stomach, how could such luxury be justified? Lord Jesus Christ taught: “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” (Luke 14:12-14)
Show of wealth: This wedding was to show the world that they are super wealthy, and this wedding would be in the Guinness Book of Records.
Show to impress: Making an impression with wealth, by luxurious spending and extravaganza gives great pleasure to some selfish people.
Show of priority: It is also said that they wanted to tell the world the values of marriage and family to the world. Strangely, the partying, dances, concerts, and other entertainment did not display any moral values.
Show of fake generosity: The special guests who were invited were rewarded for their presence with gifts worth millions. Generosity to the rich is with an expectation to be repaid, which is just fake. True generosity is to show to those who are poor to encourage and uplift them.
Sacred Covenant: The Bible teaches that it is a sacred covenant. God created Adam, and Eve was created from Adam. Both became one flesh, the mystic and mysterious oneness, which is a covenant. (Genesis 2:24) It is not an alliance of two status-conscious and business-oriented families.
Sad reality: Instead of focusing on lifelong married life, the focus is on just the wedding event gala, and celebration. Tragically, many families wish to have such marriage and sink into debt too. The real need is for the Lord Jesus to be present on the occasion and throughout the life of the couple.
Do I understand the marriage as a covenant?
