There are times as if God is inactive, afar off and hiding Himself. Wicked take advantage in those situations. (Psalm 10) Wicked are against the helpless, but God will judge.
There is no God: In all the thoughts of the wicked, there is no God. In their thought pattern, decision-making processes, in relationships with others, and their goals. In their arrogance, they misunderstand God. Their pride is expressed in their faces. First, the wicked renounce or exile God from their lives. They flee away from God, as they are sinners unable to stand in His presence. Second, they say God will not see. How foolish to think the God who created eyes will not see. Third, the wicked think God is forgetful and will not remember their deeds. Fourth, since God cannot see or remember, he cannot judge. Five, his words are full of deceit and curses. Six, he scouts for the helpless, to make them victims. So designs cunningly to spread their net to catch them. Seven, greed drives them to gain more, even by depriving others of their rights. Eight, they hotly pursue the helpless. Nine, they murder the innocent. Ten, he says that he will not be moved, meaning shaken or removed, as he is progressively prospering.
Helpless: In such an oppressive situation, what are the options for the helpless? They do two things. First, they understand God as the Sovereign God. They commit themselves to His Righteous hands. Second, they pray. Their prayer is to punish them: Break their arms. God should take their wickedness into account. None of their deeds should escape God’s scrutiny. They also pray that God should give such exemplary punishment that others would be terrorized and should not indulge in wickedness anymore.
God: The Psalmist explains God as the King, ruler of nations. When God judges the wicked, nations will perish. The prayer of the helpless will not be in vain; God hears them. God grants the desires of the helpless. Righteous God will execute justice.
When I see unrighteousness around, do I commit to the Lord and wait for His justice?
