Wise rebuke or Song of Fools!

There are mushrooming concerts – dubbed as worship concerts – that do not reflect godliness or bring glory to God. The Bible warns: “It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.” (Ecclesiastes 7:5) The Word of God is preached and taught, which is a rebuke to correct people from deviations and distractions to the destination. (II Timothy 3:15-17)
Me Vs We: The songs are focused on individualistic spirituality, ignoring the life of a Christian as a family and community of believers. One person said there are three kinds of songs: Me and God, God and Me, and Both of us together.
My, Mine: The songs seek and celebrate the prosperity of individuals, without the purpose of blessings and prosperity. There are no virtues of giving, generosity, or sacrifice. The songs reflect a transactional relationship, not one that is based on God’s love. It is more of an emotional uplifting, rather than spiritual edification.
My glory? The concerts are for the glory of individuals or an institution. Changing of dresses after every two or three songs shows the obsession with popularity and self-glory.
Myopic vision: There is no vision to take the gospel to those who have not heard it even once. Those who can do multi-media marketing become multi-millionaires. The funds raised are to upgrade the luxury level, not for the poor and needy.
Music and Mixture: Most songs are written for the sake of music. Instead of biblical truths, random words are put together with a specific popular music of the teenagers.
Mist: The stage is decorated with shiny, glittering, and colour lights. There is also smoke produced to give an impressive effect. Sound, light, and smoke that are artificially created cannot bring glory to God.
Message of hope: Paul exhorts to preach irrespective of the season. That means concerts are the places to preach the gospel with clarity. (II Timothy 4:2) Missing biblical messages during concerts reminds us of the famine for the Word.
Do I cherish rebuke or songs of fools?
