A Costly Lesson

Sam Kurvilla, on his Facebook wall, writes that he was relaxed and unhurried, took a nap, and then rushed to the airport. Since he had web checked in, he called the airport and, with his friends’ help, informed the boarding gate that he would somehow make it. Caught in the traffic, he could not make it. Nevertheless, caught in the heavy traffic, he could not reach the airport, and the flight left without him. Entering the airport late, when he scanned the boarding pass, the system said: PNR does not exist. He was removed from the system records.
I never knew: Just Sam was told: “Sorry, your PNR no longer exists.” Many will hear the most terrifying words ever spoken: “I never knew you.” (Matthew 7:23)
Futile arguments: After the gate is closed, these arguments are futile. “I had booked my ticket ahead of time.” “I have paid for my ticket.” “I have done my web check-in.” The Bible states that the rejected, evil, and enemies of the Lord will try to argue: “Lord, I preached.” “Lord, I prophesied.” “Lord, I cast out demons.” “Lord, I did many mighty works in Your name.” The reply is “I never knew you.”
No records: As a professional who worked in the airline industry, Sam knew what it meant. He had an opportunity to purchase a new ticket. But when the gates of grace are closed, it is impossible to gain reentry. Their name will not be found in Lamb’s Book of Life. (Revelation 21:27)
No second chance: There is no appeal, and there is neither an explanation nor an exception. Esau sought blessings with tears but could not get what he had rejected with contempt. (Hebrews 12:17)
No repeat of His Coming: Those who are not prepared for His Coming would be lost forever. There is no second chance, no other flight, no other booking, and, in fact, there won’t be any counter, no church, no preacher, no pastor to seek counsel or prayer. There is no hope after the gates of grace are closed.
Am I always prepared to meet Him in His Second Coming?
