Deep Sense of Satisfaction
A man escaped a shipwreck and was on a tiny island. He was thirsty but could not find water; desperately, he drank seawater. Tragically, it caused more thirst, and he drank more, which made him dehydrated. Since seawater contains more salt than human blood, the body needs water to flush the excess salts. It makes the person thirstier. People have died trying to quench their thirst. The world offers ‘seawater’ to quench the inner thirst of a person. Instead of quenching the thirst, it increases and eventually kills the person. In contrast, God provides satisfaction that helps believers to soar like renewed eagles. (Psalm 103:5)
Spiritual quest St. Augustine said, based on the verse from Ecclesiastes: “You have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11) The spiritual quest cannot be satisfied or satiated by worldly things. The Samaritan woman had to understand that her quest could be satisfied only by the Living Water provided by the Savior. (John 4:14)
Renewed strength David connects satisfaction to renewed strength. When God provides His love, care, provision, protection, and guidance, a person has supernatural strength. Prophet Isaiah states that they will run and not be weary, and walk, not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) In the world, all have to run errands, walk, or progress physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally every day. A believer does it with His grace, which is sufficient. (II Corinthians 12:9)
Sufficiency of Christ God’s provision for satisfaction for the human soul is forgiveness from sin and guilt; physical, emotional, and spiritual healing; and steadfast love. Hence, a believer is satisfied, stable, steady, and strengthened. God’s grace is sufficient for a believer in all situations of sickness, inadequacies, failures, defeats, lack of resources, financial difficulties, hindrances, persecution, and opposition.
Joyful Gratitude Believers rejoice with thanksgiving and praises to God. Their joy is not dependent on world events and material possessions, but on Him. (Philippians 4:4) That joy is also strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
