Blessing through nature

A man was shocked looking at the payment he had to make for his wife’s oxygen in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. While the oxygen humans breathe is taken for granted, its value is comprehended during medical crises like this. Not only the air humans breathe, but also the water, sunshine, rain, days, nights, seasons, dew, monsoon, and many other gifts of God are considered natural and normal. God, who is the creator and sustainer, is ignored or forgotten. God provides common grace and love to all humanity, like providing sunshine to all the righteous and unrighteous. (Matthew 5:45) God’s provision for humans through nature is universal regardless of their moral character. God’s radical kindness is a model for believers to love their enemies.

Beautiful creation The creation of God is beautiful. It reflects God’s glory, wisdom, power, and authority. The whole creation is a gift of God for humanity. The creation points humans towards the Creator. Admiring beauty, all should adore the Creator. Instead of worshipping nature, humans are called to worship the Creator of the natural world.

Sustainer of creation God miraculously sustains nature. God feeds the birds and clothes the grass of the field. (Matthew 6: 26-30) The energy of light and heat from the sun is inexhaustible, and it is sustained by God. The planets and stars are on the right course because of Him. What humans could not number, God could not only number but call stars by name. (Psalm 147:4)

Glory of God Outer space declares the glory of God. It is a silent testimony of God’s magnificence. Each day and night displays God’s workmanship. The sun is compared to a bridegroom leaving the chamber to complete the course through the sky. (Psalm 19: 1-6)

Attributes of God God’s character, goodness, majesty and attributes are exhibited in His creation. God’s eternal power and His divine nature are revealed in His creation. (Romans 1:20) Studying nature is realizing the truth of the attributes of God.
