Spiritual Privilege

It is wonderful to be a Royal Priest to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (I Peter 2:9) Indeed, all humans are sinners, spiritually blind and dwelling in darkness. Through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, sinful humans are transformed to become priests to serve in His presence. Animals and other sub-human beings do not worship, but humans are the crown of His creation and have the quality to worship the Lord.
I. Worshipper
David writes that believers are privileged and blessed because God has chosen them to approach Him, to inhabit or reside in His courts, and be satisfied with the goodness of God’s house, the Holy Temple. (Psalm 65:4)
Choice of God: The initiative comes from God. He first loved humans who are not perfect; in fact, rebellious and disobedient. When God’s grace seeks the sinners, they have to respond to His love, grace, wisdom, and redemptive plan by faith.
Divine Drawing: God draws people towards Himself. He brings them into a close, intimate inner circle. No one could enter into His presence on their own. Only God could draw them nearby.
Eternal Fellowship: God’s chosen people are neither temporary residents nor guests. They are invited into an Eternal covenant relationship so that they can dwell with Him forever.
Ultimate fulfilment: God’s house is a place of His Holy presence, abundant provision, and spiritual light and nourishment. The human soul can never find rest or peace, except in Him.
II. Children of Light
In God’s presence, His children are worshippers. Yet, they are sent out into the world as children of light. (Ephesians 5:8)
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Light of the World. He enlightens all those who come to Him. (John 1:9) It is not an accident that happens while sitting under a tree. Thus, they become children of light. They are not the source of light, but reflect the light of God, as the moon reflects the light of the sun. Because of their light, they could lead those in darkness to light.
