Astrology, solar eclipse, and death

A US astrology influencer worried about the recent solar eclipse stabbed her partner to death, then pushed her two children out of her moving car before fatally slamming the vehicle into a tree. Danielle Johnson, who peddled weekly “aura cleanses” on her website and offered online zodiac readings, told followers that the total solar eclipse in North America was “the epitome of spiritual warfare.” (NDTV 11 April 2024)

Sun worship: For some sun is considered as God. When the sun became dark due to a solar eclipse, some people lost hope and became desperate. Unable to comprehend the scientific fact, and living in spiritual darkness, she committed suicide. Rabi R. Maharaj in his biography: The death of a Guru; writes about his experience when he first attended Christian worship: “Worshipping the sun up in the sky for an hour each day, I had remained dark and cold inside. But these people were singing sunlight in their souls.”

Darkness: Most people are afraid of darkness. When the light is absent, and not accessible, it terrifies people. God sent the plague of darkness upon Egypt as the Pharaoh refused to let Israel go. (Exodus 10:21-33)

Three hours: There were three hours of darkness when the Lord Jesus Christ died. (Luke 23:44-49) He endured the darkness, the separation from the Father to bear the wrath of God, on behalf of humanity. Hence, God who let the light shine out of darkness, commands the light of the gospel to shine in the hearts of those who believe. (II Corinthians 4:6)

Spiritual warfare: She mentions that she was in intense warfare. The Lord Jesus Christ defeated Satan and triumphed. Christians who trust in Him live under that victory.

Righteous: The path of the righteous is brighter than the noonday. (Proverbs 4:18) Solar eclipse or dark clouds cannot obstruct the light.

Enlightenment: It is not the position of the sun defined by astrology that gives light to the soul. Only the Light of the World, the Lord Jesus Christ can enlighten any person. (John 1:9; 8:12)
