Blood on the rock

People wonder why the day of the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ is called Good Friday. Lord Jesus died for the redemption of humanity; hence it is good for humanity. Sadly, only a few believe this true good news.

Cry for vengeance

God confronted Cain for shedding the blood of his brother Abel. He said that the blood of Abel was crying to God for justice. Human blood when shed will cry for vengeance. (Job 16:18) However, the blood shed by the Son of God, the High Priest, speaks better and pleads for forgiveness for those who trust Him to the Heavenly Father. (Hebrews 12:24)

Cover the blood

When the blood is shed, it should be covered with sand or dust. If not, it stirs up wrath and revenge. Prophet Ezekiel wrote: ‘For the blood she shed is in her midst: She poured it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, where the dust would cover it. To stir up wrath and take revenge I put her blood on the bare rock so that it would not be covered. (Ezekiel 24:7-8)

Calvary

The Calvary Hill was a bare rock. When the blood of Lord Jesus Christ was shed and not covered with dust, it was a violation of the Mosaic Law. (Leviticus 17:13; Deuteronomy 12:16,24: 15:3) If it would have been human blood, it would have stirred up the wrath of God. But as it was that of the Son of God, forgiveness was granted to those who believed and declared as righteous.

Righteous and Holy

The righteous and Holy Son of God offered Himself to be the substitute for humans who deserved the death sentence, wrath, and righteous judgment of God. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) He took His own blood and entered the Holy of Holies, the presence of eternal God, and is seated on the Right Hand of God. (Hebrews 9:12) High priests cannot sit, as their work in the human Temple is never complete. In Christ, the work of redemption is complete and perfect.

Have I been washed by His blood and declared righteous?
