A wise saying: “Complaints train your mind to look for obstacles. Questions help to focus on solutions and train the mind to find solutions. Complaints keep your focus on things that you can’t control; questions shift to what you can.”
Discipling mind: The undisciplined mind could follow the emotions and abandon reason. Mind has to be renewed, disciplined, and guided by the Word of God and the Spirit of God. (Romans 12:2) The lack of diligent study and meditation of the Bible means being a feeble and fickle-minded Christian.
Complaints and murmurs: The children of Israel, in the wilderness, tested the Lord ten times by murmuring and rebelling against Him. (Numbers 14:22) But Moses always prayed to the Lord, asking His guidance and help. The right questions asked of the Lord bring right answers and righteous answers.
Bitterness: When David and his men returned to Ziklag, they found that their town had been burnt with fire, and all their wives and children were taken captive by the Amalekites. The warriors were angry and bitter and tried to find an object to vent their frustration. Hence, they wanted to kill David, their boss. But David strengthened himself in the Lord and asked the Lord if he could follow the Amalekites and overcome them. He defeated them and recovered all. (I Samuel 30:18-20) The Warriors focused on complaints and the past that they cannot control, but David focused on the future and found solutions.
Obedience needed: Some intellectuals have trained their minds to focus on solutions. Nevertheless, they disobey or do not follow the right solutions. The rich young man had the right question: “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” His question was directed towards the Right person, the Son of God. The Lord gave him the right solution: “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” But he got the answer, but did not want to obey. (Matthew 19:16-26)
