Divine Nature and Law Written in Hearts

“The three billion letters of DNA spell out instructions that, if printed in a tiny font, would fill three hundred books of a thousand pages each. (Each letter counts: a mistake in only two letters can cause a disease like cystic fibrosis) A nerve cell may operate according to instructions from volume four and a kidney cell from volume twenty-five, yet each carries the whole compendium, its credential of membership in the body.” (Paul Brand & Philip Yancey: Fearfully and Wonderfully)
Divine attributes: The trillions of cells in the world declare the divine attributes, invisible qualities, and power of God, as Paul writes. (Romans 1:20) It took years for scientists to discover DNA with reason, research, and scientific tools like a microscope. But David wrote of a revelation about 3000 years ago: “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalms 139:16)
Divine nature: Though the human body is God’s amazing creation is marred and mauled by sin. Diseases, pain, suffering, and death are ordained for human bodies. However, Born again believers are partakers of His divine nature. (II Peter 1:4) That does not mean that God rewrites the DNA of all those who become children of God. God gives a new heart, removing the heart of stone. (Jeremiah 31:33)
Law written in hearts: This new heart has God’s law written in our hearts (Hebrews 2:16-17) In the Old Covenant the Law including the Ten Commandments was written. The two slab stones having the Ten Commandments inscribed by God were preserved in the Ark of Covenant. In the New Covenant, God has written His Laws through the Holy Spirit. (Ezekiel 36:26)
Faith: Those who have received Him are gifted with rights to become children of God, not of blood and flesh, but of God Himself. (John 1:12,13) The New Birth signifies a new family, new relationships, a new sense of belonging, and new behavior.
Is my heart inscribed with the love and law of the Lord?
