One advertisement says: “Buy one and get one free.” Excited are children who get a double promotion in school, and so are corporate employees’ desires. A double portion of the Lord’s blessing is sought by many. Elisha wanted a double portion of the anointing that Elijah had. (II Kings 2:9) The Firstborn’s right is to get a double portion of the inheritance. Those who have received the Lord as savior have rights like those of the firstborn. (John 1:12) Esau despised his firstborn rights and lost them. (Genesis 25:34) Only those who are grateful can receive, retain, and enjoy the firstborn rights.
Love and faithfulness
In this Messianic Psalm, the Son of God is seated on His throne, who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Two blessed attributes of God are together: His steadfast love and faithfulness. (Psalms 61: 7) His love is inexhaustible, and also, He is faithful to keep the covenant, fulfil the promises, and provide all needs.
Righteousness and peace
At the cross, where the Holy Son of God was crucified as the atonement for humanity, God’s love for his creation, humanity, is evident. “Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. (Psalms 85:10) Loving and Holy God is also a righteous God. Hence, will not let go sin unpunished. Through Christ, he reconciled the world, so that peace is granted to the believers.
Goodness and mercy
David considered God as His personal shepherd, like a counsellor, coach, and mentor. As David describes God, he praises His attributes. Two blessings of Goodness and mercy follow His children, especially those who have the Kingdom of God as their priority and righteousness as their values. (Psalms 23:6; Matthew 6:33))
Presence and pleasure
The Lord leads His children in the Way, the path of life, and the path of righteousness. Those who walk in this path have the blessings of His presence, which is fullness of joy and pleasures at His right hand. (Psalms 16:11) Hence, believers could rejoice in the Lord always. (Philippians 4:4)
