When weak armies fight against established strong enemies, they use guerilla warfare as their strategy. Individuals could hit and run the soft targets. Infiltrate through simple objects like drones to destroy strategic military stations. Satan also uses multiple strategies including guerilla attacks on Christian believers. People of God should not be ignorant of Satan’s wicked devices, tactics, and strategies. (II Corinthians 2:11)
Deceitful Desires: Before knowing the Lord Jesus Christ all sinners are enslaved by all kinds of passions, and pleasures. (Titus 3:3) God has set us free, the deceitful desires could attack or raise its ugly head again. (Ephesians 4:22)
Not being watchful: This is a slippery step in Christian warfare. Lowering the guard or sleeping or not being alert and agile, could inroads for a Satanic attack in the mind of a believer.
Disobedience: Misunderstanding God, and misinterpreting Scripture could lead to disobedience. Emphasizing God’s grace and love and ignoring holiness will lead to turning the grace of God into a license to indulge in sin and immorality. (Jude 4) Instead of repentance and seeking forgiveness by claiming the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, they misconstrue God’s grace. (I John 1:9) Satan misinterpreted God’s Word, minimizing the authority of God, faithfulness, and punishment of God for violation of His command. (Genesis 3:1-5)
Overconfidence: Ephraim did not realize their strength was being sapped by foreign influence. (Hosea 7:9) It was unnoticed and unrealized. Believers could become overconfident, that certain kinds of sin cannot defeat them. They could get that kind of confidence from earlier victories. But Paul warns believers to be careful, those standing firm should not fall. (I Corinthians 10:12) Those who are helping a fallen person or a backslidden person, should be watchful. Otherwise, they could fall into temptation. There are instances when those who were involved in counseling ministries fell into temptation.
Swift and Strong action: The guerilla attacks should be swiftly and strongly dealt with. Delay and dithering means Satan is finding a foothold that would expand to defeat a believer.
Am I always watchful against Satan’s wicked devices?
