When Paul was inside the Jerusalem temple to complete the purification rights, some Jews instigated the worshippers in the Temple against Paul. (Acts 21: 28)
1) Teaches Everyone Everywhere: As a qualified Rabbi, trained under Gamaliel, Paul was expected to teach Jewish youngsters. Instead, Paul was announcing that the Messiah is for all and preaches mostly among Gentiles.
2) Against Jews: By preaching the gospel Paul is elevating Gentiles to the assumed spiritual higher status of Jews. If Paul is against the privileged status of Jewish people, it means he is against Jews. Indeed, Paul loved his people so much that he was willing to be cursed forever, so that they could be saved. (Romans 9:3) In other words, Paul was branded as an anti-national.
3) Against Mosaic Law: circumcision was the sign of a covenant given to Abraham and his descendants. (Genesis 17:9-14) Paul was vociferous in defending the freedom of Gentile believers, that they need not be circumcised like Jews to become disciples of Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 5:2) Paul preached that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the way for salvation and not doing the expectations or works prescribed by Law. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the requirements of the Law and Law is the shadow, while He is the substance. (Matthew 5:17; Hebrews 10:1; Colossians 2:17) Today also, Christians are alleged to violate the culture and even consider culture as sacred and divinely inspired.
4) Against Jerusalem Temple: Jeremiah boldly proclaimed in the precincts of the Temple in Jerusalem that if God did not spare Shiloh, He would not spare Jerusalem either. (Jeremiah 7: 11,12) One of the charges against Lord Jesus was that He claimed to destroy the Temple and rebuild it. (John 18:29-30) Stephen declared that the Lord did not dwell in the Temple, which resulted in Jews stoning him. (Acts 7:48-50)
5) Defiled Holy Place: Though Paul did not bring Trophimus the Ephesian beyond the Court of Gentiles, he was falsely accused.
Pride of privilege, false superiority, and cultural arrogance could stop many from coming to Lord Jesus Christ.
Am I humble to come to Lord Jesus Christ?
