Majestic and Glorious Lord

Dr. J. Christy Wilson, Jr. and his wife Betty served in Afghanistan for 22 years. Many became followers of Lord Jesus Christ, including ‘blind Paul,’ a Muslim convert who translated the Bible into the Dari language. They were given permission to build a church. After three years Christy Wilson and Betty were ordered to leave the country within three days. King Mohamad Zahir Shah was requested to reconsider the decision to demolish the church. The Mayor of Kabul who was educated in Germany, was approached by a Christian German businessman, Hans Mohr. He also warned the mayor: “If the government touches the House of God, God will overthrow the government.”
Church demolished: After the missionaries left, the soldiers, police and bulldozer came to destroy the House of God. The congregation welcomes them with tea and cookies. On 17 July 1973, they demolished the church and they dug twelve feet below the foundation. The Afghan government received a secret report that there was an underground church, hence was searching for it under the foundation.
Coup: On that very night King Mohamad Zahir Shah was overthrown by a coup, and his brother-in-law took over. Not only his monarchy, but the 225 years of the dynasty came to an end. Since then, Afghanistan never had a stable government or peace, or prosperity for over five decades.
Perception of common people: Christ Wilson reflects: “Afghans, who are quick to see omens in events, say that Jesus Christ came down from heaven and overthrew the government because it had overthrown His Church.”
Lord of Glory: “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!” (Psalms 96:8-9) God is not mocked. He will punish the wicked, in his own time: sooner or later.
Christ the rock: Christ is the Capstone or Cornerstone. “And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” (Matthew 21:44)
Do I worship the glorious and Majestic Lord?
