One old fragile politician said: “I am neither tired nor retired.” Addicted to power, he was not willing to give up the seat of power. Sadly, Christians become weary of doing good. But Paul encourages believers to keep on doing good because they will reap at the appropriate, God-appointed time. (Galatians 6:9) Doing good means to do the Will of God. There is always a temptation to give up before the task is completed.
Plan of God: Faith and conviction come, when a believer knows, he is doing the Will of God or executing the Plan of God, and part of the purpose of God in that historical context. Noah knew it was God’s plan to build a boat, which he had not seen or imagined before. (Hebrews 11:7)
Patience: Farmers require patience. Crops do not grow overnight. People of God should patiently sow the seed, the Word of God by words and deeds like a farmer. (II Timothy 2:6)
Persistence: Sometimes, it is human to feel elated doing a good thing but may feel disillusioned doing the same thing at another time. However, Christian virtue is persistence, which means doing all things with the same energy and enthusiasm. Some begin enthusiastically, but as time goes on, they become lethargic or lazy.
Perseverance: Persistence despite persecution, opposition, intimidation, harassment, pain, ridicule, and suffering is perseverance. Godly people are aware that they are involved in the fight against Satan and his demonic spirits. Hence, they have spiritual strength, stamina, steadfastness, and maturity to fight the forces of darkness. They also are confident of the Victory that is promised in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Priority: The disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ know their priorities. For them, the Kingdom of God is the focus, and will pursue that with utmost dedication.
Progress and blessings: The people of God are called to be catalysts of progress, transformation, and blessings. Being in the hands of God as instruments of righteousness means to positively, contribute to the world. (Romans 6:13)
