Night Vision devices are used by the army to see even at night and attack the enemy. Modern cameras have night mode for taking clear pictures. Soren Kierkegaard, a Dutch theologian said: “Faith sees best in the dark.”
Unseen things: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) Not only unseen things but even invisible things.
Tried and Tested: The faith or belief in things unseen is strongest when it is tried and tested. Job, who went through a myriad of problems, declares that he will come out like pure gold that is tested by fire. (Job 23:10)
Knight of Faith: Warriors or knights of faith never lose hope. Even death could not make them lose hope. Truth, eternal life, hope, and righteousness are greater than life.
Penetrate darkness: Light always dispels or penetrates the darkness. Even a firefly could challenge and overcome darkness. If so, the light generated by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ overcomes spiritual darkness. Apostle John declares the Lord Jesus Christ came as light and darkness of sin, and death, the world could not overwhelm or overcome or absorb or consume or overpower or appropriate that light. (John 1:5)
Faith is not: The object of Christian faith is unique and different from other religions. First, it is not a formula or a chant, or a mantra. Second, it is not a theory or philosophy. Third, it is not a tradition handed over by ancestors. Fourth, it is not a search, but a grateful reception.
The Object of faith: The Christian faith is on the person of the triune God: God the Creator, Son the redeemer, and the Spirit the comforter. The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ incarnated as a human, suffered for sin as a substitute, died, buried, and rose again.
Self-deceived: Those who do not have faith in The Way, The Truth, and the Life, are self-deceived. Everything, they believe, or trust is a delusion that leads to eternal destruction.
Do I have faith that sees in the dark?
